Children's Ministry

Youth Group

The Youth Group has been working around the church. They spread fresh sand in the preschool playground and they assisted with the Spring Fling. The Youth have also been involved in raising funds through bake sales. Thank you to the congregation for all your support and to Publix for their donations.

The Youth Group has also set up a recycle center in the Narthex. It is a program where every cell phone and used printer cartridge is "bought back" and recycled. This is a good way to care for our environment and raise funds at the same time. Bring in your printer cartridges and cell phones and the Youth Group will send them to the recycle center. We can't accept any cartridges that have been refilled or are cracked or damaged.

I am very happy that our generation cares about the church. I hope the youth will promote change in a broken world and share God's love with everyone. This has been a learning experience for me and I hope it will be for our youth, as well.

United Methodist Women

The UMW provides programming for women in Miami Lakes United Methodist Church. Programs include biblically based topics and ways to support each other as well as those women and children around the world in need of care.

All United Methodist Women are welcome.

Thank you for your past support re: the prescription bottles for shipment to Haiti. And yes, we are still collecting the bottles. Please bring them to the church the last Sunday of each month.

United Methodist Men

The UMM meets the third Thursday of every month.

Choir

Our choir is looking for new singers to join the group. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. We also meet at 9:15 a.m. each Sunday morning to warm-up our voices and run through the music for the 10:00 a.m. worship service. Missions

We will again collect Teddy Bears and other stuffed animals for distribution to nursing homes during the holiday season. Please bring your bear to church in December to sit in on the services and be prayed for by the preschoolers and congregation.

Stephen Ministries

Hope

Never give up hope. Keep alive that spark that keeps you going. Hope that they find a cure. Hope he can last that long. Hope that somehow, miraculously, they all survived. Hope you get accepted. Hope you get promoted. Hope they like your work. Hope you're not pregnant. Hope that you are. Hope, hope, hope that the computer doesn't crash before you finish your project. Hope that your daughter has listened to a word you've said. Hope that you've said at least some of the right words. Hope there's rain enough for the crops, but not too much for the rivers. Against all hope, believe in hope.

Stephen Ministers love, support, laugh, help, hope, respect, listen, forgive, serve, trust, guide, befriend, cry, encourage, believe, commit, pray and confirm.

We at MLUMC are fortunate to have a church that is a Stephen Ministry Church. "Our" Stephen Ministry is in action, and we continue to ask for your prayers as a congregation.

Positions for Stephen Ministers are always available. You must be a Christian, a member of this congregation and willing to care for others. God will supply goodness, gifts, and grace. Stephen Leaders will supply training. Contact Karen Lurie or Joni Owen at the above phone numbers for more information and if enough individuals are interested in training for Stephen Ministry, another training class will be set up.
